Bike Shops

One of your best resources for anything you need to know about bikes is your local bike shop. These people have the knowledge and the parts to make bicycling enjoyable. Here are links to area bike shops.

Clothing

You can wear anything to ride a bike. But while you’re at the bike shop, take a look at some of the bike specific clothing. There are clothes to make each of the three contact points between you and your bike more comfortable: gloves, shorts (with added padding in the seat area), and shoes. And don’t forget jackets for inclement weather.

Bike Security

Locks, racks and lockers . . . destination sites (downtown, stores, workplaces, etc.) generally have a bike rack you can use. You will need a good lock and cable. Also check out the stronger U-lock. Consult your bike shop for advice, or check out these tips on how to lock.
