Morning Women’s Social Ride

This will be an easy route on streets and trails - about 6.5 miles. Are you a confident bicyclist? – bring an aspiring cyclist friend for a fun ride in a supportive environment. Join an awesome photo collage of women bicyclists. Gather your women friends for a ride on June 9 (Women’s Wednesday) or any time during Bike Walk Week 2010 (June 5 – 11). Submit your photo by June 12th. Be sure to wear red to emphasize your commitment to bicycling for fun and transportation – and women’s health.
Need ideas for your destination? See the formal events listed on the celebration page or create your own adventure – movie, park, shopping, restaurant, community event, training ride…. On June 14th we’ll draw for prizes among all entries.
Evening ride on the Greenway
Join the Midtown Greenway Coalition’s Women on Wednesday Trail Watch Ride every week and especially on June 9th (Women’s Wednesday) of Bike Walk Week for extended hours – 6:00 – 10:00 p.m. The ride along the Midtown Greenway and Hiawatha Trail will be a fun, easy-paced social ride showcasing these fabulous off-road bicycle routes. Safety, key to enabling more women to use bicycles, will be highlighted on the ride. Helmet and lights required. Meet at the Freewheel Midtown Bike Center (On the north side of the Greenway between Chicago and 10th Avenues) at 6:00, 7:00, or 8:00 to join the group. Five free bicycle lights given to the first riders in each group and free reflective leg band for all!
